Bionic True Story: "The Only Thing Worth Watching on That Show is When She Walks in High Heels and Her Boobs Jiggle"
That’s what my husband said tonight when I asked him if he wanted to watch Bionic Woman with me … and if you know my husband, you know that he never says things like that. He followed it up with the comment "No offense to you, by the way, or your blog but everything else about that show is just bone dead stupid." Well how’s that for honesty in a relationship?
I still have hope for this show, and think that at the very least the premise was a good idea that was spoiled by too much anticipation and too many people meddling which resulted in a convoluted vision. But when I look around almost no one I know is watching … even the ones that came in to the series hopeful (like my husband) seem to have turned their backs on Jaime Sommers and the lack of bionic focus her series has had since its debut in September. I wish I could say that I was mad at my husband but part of me knows that he is right … the show is not even remotely living up to its potential.
That said, the show is not nearly as bad as most of the press makes it out to be and that is part of the problem. Many journalists seem to have been hoping for cancellation since the show came on the air. A few weeks back I posted a rant about how frustrated I am about all the stories slamming Bionic Woman, even when the ratings for this show were higher than for other shows that were deemed to be successful. Last time I checked Bionic Woman was averaging about twice as many people as shows that are deemed to be hits for NBC like The Office and My Name is Earl, but no one is really talking about that.
How about you? Are you still watching or are you joining SyFy Portal and the crowds of people who seem to be cheering on the Bionic Woman’s cancellation before it even happens?

Over on Bionic-Blog, I posted this:
“I am going totally positive into episode 1.08. I want to thank Michelle, Michael, Nathan, Kate, David, all the actors, producers, and yes, even the writers, all of whom put a lot of hard work into the show. They deserve our thanks, and while we can critique the final product, their efforts to create a product deserve our appreciation. Whatever happens after Wednesday night, I will be grateful for their efforts. As Gene Hackman said to his basketball team in the movie ‘Hoosiers’, on the eve of their make or break game, I say to the BW team on the eve of theirs; ‘If you put your heart and soul into it, if you give it everything you got, I don’t care what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, in my book, we’re going to be winners’ ”.
I am cheering on BW still, rooting for it, but I know its not looking good now, and it all comes down, I believe, to how it did tonight. Having said this, I regret to say that for only the second time this season, I was not able to watch the show live due to my retail job. I apologize to my fellow BW fans for not being able to help the ratings on this make or break night for BW.
How was it?

Good point Jim! I did a post on your comment which will be going up tomorrow … thank you for stopping by and saying hello.
It was good, I thought, for the most part. No Jordan Bridges, but Kevin Rankin more than made up for it. There is a comedic scene with him and Jonas that is pretty classic.
There were some uneven moments but they were far fewer than previous episodes. Over all it was a nice job and made me sad, as always, that we may not see the show live up to its full potential.
Check back Friday as I should have a longer review for you!

[...] thanks to Jim, a reader who stopped by the blog last night and reminded us that there is a lot to celebrate about Bionic Wom…. The show aired what could conceivably be its last episode last night, and all of the [...]

Of course I am still watching and will hopefully continue to watch!! There is no way I am cheering all that negativity…it seems as though everyone was predicting its cancellation even before it began. I know that on one forum (that shall not be named) they were taking bets before the pilot even aired as to when it would be cancelled. Only just the other week they were lamenting that they would now have to find another show to hate
Are you kidding me????
It seems everybody wants to spread the negative and none of the good - perfect example was how Roadrunner’s blog got blown WAY out of proportion!
I am by no means a ratings expert but I have been following some of the stats that have come out this season and as far as I can tell BW is not rating as badly as some of the so called “great shows”…can someone explain that to me?? As you correctly asked “why is no one talking about those shows??”
Also they’ve stuck by LIfe (of which I’m also a fan) and that has also been struggling in the ratings!!
Unfortunately I haven’t seen ep 1.08 yet (I’m in Aus so we get it a few hours after the US) but it’ll be on soon and I’ll comment then.
I still believe the show has great potential..it has shown continuing improvement and now that all the behind the scenes stuff has settled down it should only get better!

Oops forgot to say Thanks Margie for the rant because you only voiced what I was thinking and I’m sure a lot of other fans too

I’m still wishful on the show. I just want it to be more consistent. Jamie gets tossed around too much emotionally and the effects of these events aren’t sufficiently explored.
