Bionic Woman Expected to Survive Strike, Sweeps

If you are television fan then you know there is a writer’s strike going on around the country, one that is expected to affect many of our favorite shows.
While no official strike plan has been announced for Bionic Woman yet, many experts expect that Bionic Woman’s strong pedigree and key demographic numbers mean it will survive the strike and the trial by fire that is network sweeps.
Whether the strike will be a good thing or a bad thing for new shows like BW, however, is still a subject of debate … as with all things BW, only time will tell.

Man this is absolutely awful and why I hate unions. Everyone is supporting the writers, but it’s just propaganda. Some of the writers are paid well aren’t they? Which is why Eric Kripke and Joss Whedon probably are only supporting the strike because they have to. We lose 6 or seven episodes of Supernatural and Smallville because they want more money. Don’t writers have contracts with shows and get paid for each episode they write? Does anyone know how much they make an episode? Why should they get DVD residuals honestly? Can anyone shed some light on this?
From what I read, it’s because the producers get money from DVDs so they want some too, but last time I checked writers don’t have anything to do with the production of a DVD unless they’re on it you know? Once they hand in their scripts, they can move on. If anything, they should be paid more upfront. I’m sorry if I come off as heartless but I’m just pissed off. I never understood strikes…everyone loses money and then you have to spend time just getting out of the hole you’ve dug yourself into. And nobody can deny that going on strike during November sweeps is underhanded, yes that’s the point I know, but thinking of people striking reminds me of children who won’t do something unless their parents give them what they want. It’s sort of pathetic.
Oh and the crew people are underpaid. They should be the ones striking. The writers don’t even care that they are putting people out of work and costing everyone money. Also, they are costing the devoted fans episodes of their favourite programs. The producers are selfish probably but don’t say you would just agree to the writers’ demands, once you make one million a year you’re not going to give it away unless absolutely necessary. Sometimes producers lose money too if a show or film fails don’t they? I think the writers are being selfish as well though, it takes two people to argue after all.

I feel that “Bionic Woman” has a glimmer of hope to actually survive through not only the strike, but the November sweeps as well. It has already aired six episodes and it has seen its audience dip by as much as 50 percent in just a month and a half. I think that other new shows have suffered even worse than “Bionic Woman”. “Life”, “Journeyman”, “Chuck”, and “K-ville”, just to name a few. I understand how the writer’s feel, they all work very hard to put a good script together, but the more that they are on strike, not only do they suffer, but WE suffer as well. All of our favorite shows will either go into reruns or be cancelled altogether. Believe it or not, some of these new shows are trying to build an audience for themselves. Yes, some of them are suffering in the ratings, but thanks to YouTube, NBC.com, etc., we can actually watch some of these episodes and catch up on them or just watch them for fun. I am hopeful that they will give “Bionic Woman” a second chance to build their ratings up. I was a big fan of the 1970s show with Lindsay Wagner, and now, I’m starting to become a fan of the new version with Michelle Ryan as Jamie. Michelle is very sexy and talented. If this version ever came out on DVD, I would definitely buy it because that is how much i have enjoyed watching this show. Hang in there, Michelle. Maybe you will get an early Christmas gift: NBC telling you that your show will be sticking around for a while.
