poster for molly price movie the life before her eyes

It has been a long journey for WatchingBionicWoman, and while the hours of labor I put into this blog are nothing compared to how hard the cast and crew worked on the show it was still a huge disappointment to read last week’s announcement from David Eick.  I will post my thoughts on the cancellation news soon, but in the interim be sure to check out the Top Ten Things That Hurt Bionic Woman list and check out the news as it arrives.

Molly Price’s new movie, The Life Before Her Eyes, will premiere April 18 in the United States.  Molly plays Uma Thurman’s mother in the film, which surrounds the secret life of Uma’s character as she comes to terms with her guilt about a violent incident in her past.  Evan Rachel Wood plays Uma’s character as a young girl and you can see a glimpse of Molly in the movie’s trailer, which is below.

Word is that David Eick is refreshingly candid on his DVD commentary during the first episode of Bionic Woman, stating the show was “the most difficult production ever.”

Katee Sackhoff hit the road during the writer’s strike, taking her Harley out for a spin around some wineries with her Battlestar Galactica costar Tricia Helfer (”Number Six”).

Miguel Ferrer is mentioned as a possible link in the new game “Six Degrees of David Duchovny,” which could be the new “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.”

Will Yun Lee apparently turned 37 this weekend … I never would have guessed he was a day over 30!  Happy Birthday Will, and may you land many great roles in the year to come.

Help Entertainment Weekly Sing Molly Price’s Praises

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

Entertainment Weekly recently blogged about the great performance Molly Price gives each episode of Bionic Woman, where she plays Burket Group shrink Ruth Truewell.

It seems we here at Watching Bionic Woman were not the only ones amused by deadpan funny confession that she once slept with Isaiah Washington’s Antonio Pope in the last episode.

If you are a fan of Molly’s portrayal of Ruth add your voice to those singing her praises on PopWatch, or check out this clip as a flashback to her performance on Third Watch a few seasons ago where her character also became a fan favorite. Judging from the large number of fan videos on YouTube, Molly’s Third Watch character is gone but not forgotten.

Who is your favorite Bionic Woman supporting character? Is it Molly Price’s Ruth Truewell, or Will Yun Lee’s sexy Jae? Do you prefer the big brown eyes of Jordan Bridges’ CIA agent, or Kevin Rankin’s spry and sunny Nathan? Do you like watching Lucy Hale lust after jeans as Becca, or do you feel Bionic Woman only works when Katee Sackhoff is on the screen?

There is a petition up to save Bionic Woman. So far it has gained over 250 signatures, most of which are followed by positive comments about the show and its potential, so if you are fan click through and sign up!

Hopes that Bionic Woman will pick up viewers during the strike with reruns seem to be slimmer now that NBC has announced that they will be running Law & Order on Wednesdays instead. This does not bode well.

If you missed the stir last week, many media outlets reported that Michelle Ryan was dating Owen Wilson. Her publicist denied the two had ever met, much less enjoyed romantic dinners and body surfing together, but the stories continued for several days.

Check out this list of reasons fans love Katee Sackhoff, which was designed to help lift her spirits after the recent rumor controversy. Someone who knows Katee is involved in the project and promises to make sure she sees it, so if you are a Katee fan you should post as well.

In other Katee news, she was mentioned in Monday’s Variety as one of the breakthrough performers of the year along with such critical darlings as Pushing Daisies‘ morbid pie man Lee Pace and Ray Wise, who plays the hysterical Devil on Reaper. The article hinted Katee has a chance to earn a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Sarah Corvus on Bionic Woman, which should cheer her up at least as much as the above-mentioned list.

Molly Price, who plays Ruth Truewell on Bionic Woman, will turn 42 on December 15th. Happy Birthday, Molly!

Bionic Woman: Is Ruth Truewell a Lesbian?

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Bionic Woman episode 1.03 - “Sisterhood” raised a question that I have wondered since watching the pre-air pilot back in July:  Is Molly Price’s character, Ruth Truewell a lesbian?

I certainly hope so!  How fantastic to have a strong smart character that happens to be a lesbian on a prime-time show.  We don’t know that much information about Truewell yet, except she is smart, efficient and can multi-task like crazy.  So far we have seen her perform psych exams, impersonate a federal agent, and make a bomb on the fly.  After making the mistake of hiring serial bigot Isaiah Washington, NBC could make great strides with the gay community having one of the main Bionic Woman characters be an out lesbian.  Many at AfterEllen.com think Molly Price makes a great role model and compares her character to Mariska Hargitay’s Det. Benson on Law & Order:  SVU

Bionic Woman is turning into a great show and this possibility makes it even more interesting for me.  Of course, it is NBC, so I won’t hold my breath.

About Bionic Woman

Welcome to the best site on the web for news about Bionic Woman! Bionic Woman is a re-imagined, updated television drama inspired by the original 1970s show starring Lindsey Wagner. Helmed by the same creative team responsible for reviving Battlestar Galactica on the Sci-Fi Channel, the new Bionic Woman is darker than the 1970s original series but not quite as dark as BSG. The new show stars Michelle Ryan as the title character, Jaime Sommers, and Katee Sackhoff as her nemesis/frenemy Sarah Corvus. Each episode provides Jaime with an opportunity to further adapt to her bionic implants, and plots usually focus on her struggles to raise her teenage sister Becca while fighting techno terrorism and other types of crime. Bionic Woman airs on channels around the world, and in the United States it appears on Wednesday nights at 9:00/8:00 Central on NBC.
